Peter Lerman
Bio

Peter Lerman is a musical playwright who recently performed solo concerts of his work at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and Signature Theatre.  His musical “To Memphis (with the intention of returning),” for which he wrote the book, music, and lyrics, was awarded the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Musical Theater Award in 2005. It was presented that same year at the national festival at the Kennedy Center.  In 2005, Peter received his bachelor’s degree in Music from Columbia University where he wrote music and lyrics for the Columbia Varsity Show.  A past participant of the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Festival at Northwestern University, Peter is a member of ASCAP, The Dramatists Guild, and is a winner of a 2010 Jonathan Larson Award from the American Theater Wing. He recently presented his musical "The Virginia" at the Disney/ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop.  In addition to music for theater, Peter writes country and pop songs.  He recently contributed music to the first season of "Modern Family" on ABC.
